Just like the title says this is a list of frequently asked questions.
If you don’t find your answers in here please contact me and I will happily help you out.
General
1. Where is your studio?
Our comfortable studio is located at Level 1, Unit 2, 16 Yampi Way Willetton (just 20mins south of Perth city), we are very easy to get to; just minutes from the Kwinana Freeway, Leech & Roe Highways.
2. Do you travel?
Newborn portraits are all taken in our studio because I have everything on hand and can easily control the perfect light and temperature for baby. You can put your feet up and relax without feeling guilty about the million things you “should” be doing while your baby is occupied.
Limited outdoor locations are now available for family/maternity portraits subject to weather and availability.
3. I purchased a USB of images, where do I print them?
PLEASE find a great quality printing lab! The 10c chain store labs are a good low cost option for your snap shots but honestly the quality is not the same and it is a shame to spend the money on your lovely photos and not print them with the same amount of love. Fitzgerald Photo Lab in North Perth offer their professional print service to the public and you can order online and have them delivered, the little extra cost is SO worth it!
4. How do I pay you?
I can accept cash, direct deposit, EFTPOS, credit card and take home pay later with LatitudePay. Your Starter Pack is payable prior to your shoot and packages, prints & other products selected after viewing your gallery are to be paid prior to production.
5. Can I layby?
You sure can! You can choose to pay off your order (excluding initial booking fee) over a prearranged time period. Production of your products will take place after to your final payment.
6. How do I get my printed products?
It would be a huge shame to have your beautiful images damaged in the mail so studio pick up is preferred, if that is not practical we can make other arrangements.
7. How much do you charge?
Please checkout the investment page!
8. Will my prints or the photos on my USB be watermarked?
The most simple answer is no, print quality digital images and printed products will not have watermarks, your USB will also have a folder of identical images that are optimised for online sharing, those images will have a small watermark.
9. What other products do you offer?
Please see our products page or request a copy of our Price Guide, if you have something else in mind please ask!
10. Do you have gift vouchers?
Yes absolutely, they are available in any denomination and make thoughtful baby shower gifts!
Newborns
11. How old should my new baby be for those cute newbie shots?
Congratulations, it is such an exciting time! The best time to photograph newborns is in their first 5 to 10 days when they are still all sleepy, squishy and curly. However, we know things don’t always go to plan (Hello Covid-19!) so no matter how old your baby is please still get in touch, we will never turn you away just because your baby is a little older!
12. How soon do I need to book our session?
It is best to make a booking as early as possible to avoid missing out… it is never to early to book your newborn photographer!
13.But how do you make a booking if I don’t know what day my baby will be born?
I pencil in your due date and adjust your booking as you reach or even pass that date, then you simply let me know when baby has arrived and we set the actual date.
14. What should I dress my baby in?
Newborns photograph best in their birthday suits, but don’t worry we will protect their dignity with a little cloth wrap or a thoughtfully placed foot. If you have a special little outfit you would like to use in a few shots please feel free to bring it along, keep in mind that generally clothes really don’t fit newborns perfectly and tend to bunch up looking awkward in their photos.
15. What should I wear?
The studio is going to be very snuggly for your nakie newborn so it is going to feel pretty warm for everyone else, it’s a good idea to dress keeping this in mind. If you would like some photos with your new baby (which I do encourage!) it’s good to stick to block colours or simple patterns so the main attraction in the picture is the people and not your outfits. A change of clothes for parents is a great idea… just incase!
16. Do you have any props?
We have a medium prop collection but tend to go with a bit more of a natural look, if you have something particular in mind please check that we have what you are looking for, we are happy to include any special toys, blankets or hats that you would like to use.
17. I already have a child/children, can we include them in the photo’s as well?
Absolutely, providing they are happy to get involved and are not going to be a danger to your baby, but we also have a few tricks up our sleeve that help when sibling portraits aren’t going to plan.
18. How long will the shoot take?
A newborn session on average takes three hours but I always say allow 2 to 4 hours. I allow lots of extra time for feeding and settling, cleaning of their little accidents (they do happen!) and lots of cuddles.
19. What if someone is sick or has an extended hospital stay?
It is really important to me that your family and mine are kept as healthy as possible, if someone is unwell we will reschedule until everyone is better. If you need to spend a little longer in hospital we will set a date as soon as you are ready to come home.
20. Are you immunised?
In light of recent media attention I can happily confirm that my family are all immunised against whooping cough and are a cold sore free home; looking out for both your family and mine!
21. Do you travel?
Newborn portraits are all taken in our studio because I have everything on hand and can easily control the perfect light and temperature for baby. You can put your feet up and relax without feeling guilty about the million things you “should” be doing while your baby is occupied.
22. What days & times are you available?
All of my newborn sessions start at 10am, babies are almost always more settled in the morning but any earlier would be mean to the new parents! I am in a fortunate position to be able to offer time slots seven days a week depending of course on prior bookings.
23. How long will it take to get my proofs?
Your ordering session will take place two weeks after your shoot at your private viewing appointment. You are welcome to bring along anyone that is involved in the purchasing of your portraits.
25. What if I don’t want my babies images online?
We respect everyones choice not to share their images online, we will confirm this with you at your viewing appointment.
Maternity
26. When is the best time for pregnancy portraits?
34 to 36 weeks is generally a good time to have your maternity portraits taken, however, we can adjust that to allow for tiny bellies to grow some more or make the date a little sooner if you are getting to uncomfortable, we will work out what suits you best
27. Do you have dresses for pregnant mums to wear?
Yes! We have a selection of gowns, drapes and dresses for you to choose from or you can choose to remain in your own clothes.
28. What do I need to bring?
Everyone: A simple black dress or singlet, a simple white singlet/dress and for partners a plain dark tshirt without bold logos
28. What about hair and makeup?
Your sitting fee includes complimentary professional hair & make up, if you would rather do your own (or go without) we will exchange it for a $150 print credit.
29. Can I include my other children and/or partner?
Absolutely, we encourage you to!
30. Do you get rid of my stretch marks?
My general principle when editing your images is “If it is permanent it stays, if it is temporary it goes”… unless you have a specific request! Stretch marks fall into a grey area so I say it’s important to me that YOU love your images, if you have a specific request please let me know… I won’t judge!
31. How long do I need to allow for a maternity session?
An hour and a half is perfect with an additional hour for hair & makeup.
